Super’Stang Cruises into Liberty for Fundraiser

Wicklund CARSTAR anniversary party will help make wishes come true in Kansas City

LIBERTY, Mo. – Gerald Wicklund is celebrating 40 years in Liberty with an anniversary party and fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas City on Saturday, Oct. 11. The CARSTAR Super’Stang, which is on a nationwide tour to raise money for the charity, will be the main attraction during the open house at Wicklund’s CARSTAR Collision Center.

“We are proud to serve customers in the Liberty community and look forward to another 40 years,” said Gerald Wicklund, owner of Wicklunds CARSTAR Collision Center. “At CARSTAR, we believe in giving back to the community that has given so much to us. In the Liberty area alone, we have raised more than $15,000 for Make-A-Wish, and we’re excited to have the Super’Stang here to help us celebrate our anniversary.”

A 1967 prototype Mustang created by CARSTAR and Jeff Yergovich, one of the country’s leading restorers of Mustangs, the Super’Stang began a nationwide tour in June 2007 and has raised more than $250,000 and traveled more than 70,000 miles to date. The 525-horsepower Super’Stang will ultimately be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to Make-A-Wish Foundation. Wicklund’s CARSTAR has participated in the fundraising effort by giving out 1,200 magnetic stars to customers. Each star represents a donation to Make-A-Wish as a result of a car repair at a local CARSTAR store. Wicklund’s CARSTAR also has helped organize two golf tournaments in the area.

The anniversary celebration will include activities to entertain the whole family. In addition to the Super’Stang being on display, there will be a raffle every 15 minutes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with prizes ranging from gift cards to local restaurants and stores to Kansas City Chiefs tickets. Guests must be present to win. Five dollars will purchase two raffle tickets or a chance in the $25,000 dice roll. Contestants can throw six dice, and if they spell out “winner,” the roller wins $25,000. Children will enjoy running through an obstacle course or jumping in the moon bounce, and hot dogs, soda and cotton candy will be available for everyone. Make-A-Wish wristbands also will be available for sale. All proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas City.

“Wicklund’s was our very first CARSTAR franchise, so it is a double anniversary – 20 years with CARSTAR and 40 years in business,” said Jeff Bontrager, CARSTAR business development manager. “We hope to commemorate this anniversary by raising another $5,000 for Make-A-Wish.”

Wicklund’s CARSTAR is located at 941 Sutton Place, Liberty, MO 64068. For more information about the Super’Stang Muscle Tour or to view photos of the car, visit www.carstarsuperstang.com.
